Dear Stego Community,
Stego officially embarked on its Stego Footprint Project in June of 2014 to eliminate the carbon emissions of its business operations. But many early achievements in the life of the company forged a commitment to sustainability across the company, including its bottom line.
The mission of Stego has always been to protect the building envelope and indoor air quality. Our company has become the leader in below-slab moisture protection because of an unending push for innovation and a tireless commitment to doing business with honesty and integrity. These core values have grown Stego from an idea that started in a garage to an impermeable brand in the construction materials industry.
We bring innovation and integrity to everything we do. That's why we think it's important to share our efforts to achieve this mission in the most sustainable way possible. At Stego, we're committed to ensuring that our bottom line includes social and environmental considerations, not just economic.
First, we feel it is important to acknowledge that we market petroleum-based products. While our products lead the market in their ability to prevent the diffusion of water vapor and soil gases that produce floor failures and public health problems, we accept that the world's petroleum supply is a finite resource and contributes to carbon emissions. Stego has committed to researching and investigating promising new technologies that are more sustainable and provide the same level of protection you expect.
Until that day comes, we strongly believe a finite resource like petroleum should be allocated in the most efficient manner for the most sustainable public utility. We take pride in Stego Wrap's performance, and leaders in the green construction industry agree: our products' durability and improvements to indoor air quality lead to healthier, more productive environments.
Finally, sustainability has always been a part of Stego's business model. Some steps we've already taken:
We installed solar panels at our corporate headquarters in 2010 to increase our use of renewable energy resources, and we now proudly operate out of a 100% solar facility.
Our Stego Green Team, which includes every corporate department, is using life cycle thinking to review the impacts of our products and our operations.
These ongoing efforts' ultimate goal is to create a comprehensive corporate sustainability report to demonstrate our commitment to the environment and improve our performance in key areas.
We hope you will hold us accountable for the good of our planet so we can prove yellow is green.
